We are following up on the previous influenza message with additional information related to other seasonal respiratory illnesses. The Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health is reporting weekly surveillance results of influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) on its public dashboard.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health endorses recently released vaccination guidance from the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All adults 18+ should receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine and vaccine should be available for all children whose parents wish them vaccinated. Those with higher risk should get the updated vaccine as soon as it’s available from their medical provider or nearby pharmacy.
This includes young children aged 6-23 months, persons aged 65 years and older, pregnant people, individuals 6 months and older with underlying health conditions, and individuals living with or working with persons at high risk for severe disease.
- USC faculty and university staff may receive COVID-19 vaccinations at the USC Pharmacies. No appointments necessary, please see the following link for additional information https://pharmacies.usc.edu/services/Immunizations/. (Employees on Kaiser Permanente plans may receive their vaccinations at their nearest Kaiser facility.)
- USC students may receive the vaccine through USC Student Health (immunization appointments are available in MySHR to book). Students who are not on SHIP/Aetna should receive their vaccinations through the USC Pharmacies (see above) or during a primary care visit.
