Game Plan for Game Day: Pick your path!
You can make choices about whether to drink and how to set intentional limits if you do decide to do so.
This Fall 2025, you can sign up for text messages that can help you to stick to your intentional drinking (or not drinking) plan during football game days, one of the biggest gathering occasions at and around college campuses nationwide. These reminders can help you set safeguards or limits, which can also help reduce potential harm when drinking.

USC encourages students to be informed about alcohol and its effects, especially during big college social traditions including parties and football season tailgates. Whether you choose to drink or not drink, keep in mind how alcohol can impact our judgment, cognition, reaction time, and physical abilities.
It is the University of Southern California’s expectation that students wait until the legal drinking age of 21 before they make decisions about whether or not they choose to drink alcohol. For more information about the university’s expectations for the student community, please visit policy.usc.edu/studenthandbook and read “Living Our Unifying Values: The USC Student Handbook.”
